Gheezer: A Healthier Peanut Butter Made with Ghee and MCT Oil

If you are anything like us, or most Americans, you love peanut butter. It may have been a staple in your home since childhood, whether on a PB&J for lunch or straight from the spoon. Peanut butter is a versatile and delicious food, but the peanut butter we eat today is essentially the same as it was over a century ago. It’s time for an upgrade.

A big component of peanut butter, which we don’t often think about, is the oil. Peanut oil is largely made up of omega-6 fats, which nearly all of us get enough of (or likely too much of) in our diet. This got us thinking: what if we could keep everything we love about peanut butter, but swap in better fats?

The Problem with Peanut Butter

Traditional "healthy" peanut butter is often separated into peanut solids and peanut oil. Peanut oil is extremely high in omega-6 polyunsaturated fats (PUFAs). Diets rich in omega-6 can tilt the fat balance in a pro-inflammatory direction. This trend is linked to metabolic and cardiovascular risks. Omega-6 fats are also at a higher risk of oxidation and becoming rancid than saturated fats.

What makes Gheezer Different

We rethought the peanut butter recipe. We remove the high-omega-6 oil and replaced it with a blend of coconut MCT oil and ghee. Why these fats?

Ghee is a traditional shelf-stable fat rich in saturated fat and fat-soluble vitamins. It is smooth and highly stable, both on the shelf and in the fridge. Perfect for an even richer-tasting, long-lasting creamy peanut butter alternative.

MCT coconut oil is a fast-burning quick energy fuel. It is metabolized differently than longer-chain fats, supporting metabolism, cognitive function, and satiety.

At Gheezer, we’re giving age-old fats a new life: ghee and MCTs meet peanuts in a spread that’s both nostalgic and next-gen. Curious to try it out? Your first spoonful might change how you think about peanut butter.
